General Conditions of Carriage and Business
Terms applying to trips, catering and other agreed services supplied by Rhytaxi Basel GmbH.
1. Contract and boat allocation
A quote becomes binding upon express acceptance. Quote version, terms version and acceptance time are recorded. Each Rhytaxi carries no more than twelve passengers regardless of age. Boat preferences are non-binding; Rhytaxi may substitute an operationally suitable boat.
2. Safety, weather and locks
The skipper makes the binding decision to operate, adapt or cancel due to storms, high water, technical problems or other safety concerns. Lock times are never guaranteed. Current official rules and orders take precedence.
3. Cancellation by the customer
A cancellation is received when it reaches the customer portal or Rhytaxi by email. Fees on the full booked total including catering: 50% from 15 days; 80% at 14–8 days; 90% at 7–4 days; 100% from 3 days, on the trip date or for no-shows.
4. Rebooking
A first rebooking is generally free if received at least 15 days before departure, the replacement trip is within twelve months, available and substantially comparable. Late or repeated changes and catering already ordered require individual approval.
5. Cancellation by Rhytaxi and extraordinary events
If Rhytaxi cancels for safety, technical or operational reasons, no cancellation charge applies to the unprovided service; payments are refunded or credited to a replacement date by agreement. For official closures, floods, storms or lock failures, adjustment or rebooking is prioritised.
6. Prices, delays and payment
All prices are in CHF and VAT-exempt. After a ten-minute tolerance, waiting or extension is charged in commenced 15-minute units. Standard methods are cash, TWINT, SumUp/card or prepayment. Post-trip invoices are exceptional and due within ten days.
7. Late payment
A first dunning notice may be sent 15 days after the due date with one CHF 30 fee. A second notice threatening debt enforcement may follow ten days after the first notice period expires.
8. Responsibility and conduct
The booking person is responsible for correct details and informing participants. Crew instructions must be followed. Damage and extraordinary cleaning culpably caused by the group may be charged.
9. Catering, allergies and brought items
Booked food and packages are payable in full. Drinks are charged by consumption, with a minimum of 70% of the ordered value. Allergies and accessibility needs must be disclosed. Own food, drinks, decorations, animals or equipment require prior consent.
10. Boarding and third-party services
Boarding and disembarking are only permitted at agreed, operationally approved points. Not every landing or boat is barrier-free. External supplier services are identified and may also be subject to the supplier’s conditions.
11. Vouchers, insurance and lost property
Vouchers activate after payment, are valid for one year, transferable and partly redeemable. No cash payment. Rhytaxi is insured under commercial passenger navigation rules; found items are retained for 30 days.
12. Complaints and law
Report issues immediately to the skipper and then promptly by email with the booking number. Swiss law applies; mandatory consumer venues remain reserved, otherwise the venue is Basel-Stadt.
